Matt Light

Day 4, Wednesday, October 18, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Matt Light is a true team player and champion. Drafted out of Purdue University by the New England Patriots in the second round (48th overall) of the 2001 NFL Draft, he retired after 11 seasons with the team. During his career, he’s played in nine division championships, three Pro-Bowls and has helped the team win five conference titles and three Super Bowl crowns. A few years ago at a home opener, Light was named to a spot on the Patriots’ 50th Anniversary Team.

Light grew up in a rural farming community in Greenville, Ohio, where he says he learned to respect nature and developed a real love for the outdoors. A starting tight end of his high school football team, he was recruited as an offensive tackle for Purdue University, where he helped take the Boilermakers to a Big Ten title and their first Rose Bowl appearance in 35 years. After graduating there in 2000 with a degree in Industrial Technology, he was drafted by the Patriots, where he became an anchor for their offensive line.

Light, who has always made a practice of giving back to the community, dreamed of creating a charitable organization that would work with children of different backgrounds to help them reach their highest potential. In 2001, he formed the Light Foundation, which strives to instill and develop the values of responsibility, accountability and hard work by providing youth with unique outdoor learning experiences that assist them in meeting, and exceeding all of their goals.

Rob Ninkovich

Day 4, Wednesday, October 18, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Rob Ninkovich recently retired after playing 11 seasons in the NFL as an outside linebacker and defensive end. Ninkovich spent the last eight seasons with the New England Patriots and was part of two Super Bowl Championship teams.
Ninkovich is known for his versatility, work ethic, and his heart. He was recruited to Purdue University playing tight end before moving back to defense. Ninkovich was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the fifth round of the 2006 NFL Draft, and also played for the Miami Dolphins. He became the first Patriots player since Hall of Famer Andre Tippett to record at least eight sacks in three straight seasons (2012-14). Ninkovich’s 14 fumble recoveries since 2010 are the most in the NFL over that span.
Ninkovich was born in Blue Island, Illinois and grew up in New Lenox, Illinois. He began playing football in high school, and at a very young age it was his goal to one day play in the NFL. From that day forward after his freshman year of high school he worked hard to pursue his dreams of becoming in the NFL.
