Michael Ferrante is the president of the Massachusetts Energy Marketers Association, an industry trade association representing over 350 heating oil, biofuel, propane and petroleum marketers and suppliers; home heating equipment manufacturers and distributors; and other companies that provide products and services to the association’s members. Along with running the day-to-day operations of the association, he is responsible for industry lobbying on the state and federal level; developing advertising and marketing campaigns for member companies; managing all funds and programs associated with the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) in Massachusetts; and interacting with the media, regulators, consumers and a variety of other groups and agencies that have an interest in home energy, renewable biofuel/biodiesel, petroleum, energy conservation, the environment, and consumer protection.
Michael holds an undergraduate degree in English from Salem State College and a Master of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University’s School of Public Communication. Following his studies at Boston University, he was employed for four years as a television news writer and producer at WCVB-TV5, the ABC affiliate in Boston. He then worked a combined seven years as a company media spokesman and public and government relations representative for two Fortune 500 companies: Wang Laboratories and Monsanto Chemical Company.
