Mr. Flaherty serves currently as Regional Vice President of Safety and Loss Prevention in the Mid-Atlantic region. He has over 25 years of experience in environmental, health & safety, as well as an extensive background in DOT hazardous materials and Federal Motor Carrier compliance. He began his career in environmental field services with Veolia Environmental as a Field Supervisor and has an extensive background performing training on OSHA regulations, DOT hazardous materials, RCRA regulations and FMCSA compliance. Mr. Flaherty has managed a multitude of large scale emergency response projects for many of the Mid Atlantic region’s largest utilities, including JCP&L, PSE&G, Delmarva and First Energy. As Manager of Hazardous Materials & Regulatory Compliance for Jevic Transportation, he was responsible for ensuring the safe and compliant transportation of shipments for some of the nation’s largest chemical companies including Sunoco, Dow Chemical and Rohm & Haas. In his most recent capacity as Transportation Compliance Manager for a large national hazardous waste disposal firm, he was responsible for DOT training, conducting internal audits on FMCSA and PHMSA compliance as well as serving as the company representative for federal DOT compliance audits.
