Roger retired from the Sheriff’s Department in February 2011, as a Deputy Sheriff, from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station, after serving the county for 20 years. Roger started on January 7th, 1991, in the 103rd Academy graduating on May 10th 1991 and served as a Deputy at the following stations: Foothill Jail, West Valley Detention Center, Chino Hills Station, and Fontana Station. During his time at the Fontana Sheriff Station, he investigated hundreds of metal theft incidents and was one of two metal theft/rural crime investigators for the county.
In March 2011, he started as the Director of Loss Prevention for SA Recycling. SA Recycling being the largest scraping company on the west coast. Roger is overseeing the Loss Prevention Department for 80 locations in 7 states, California, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Texas.
Roger is also very involved in the Metal Theft Investigation Community. He is the Special Advisor to CMIA, California Metal Investigators Association, and the California Rural Crime Prevention Task Force. Roger was very instrumental in writing the Metal Theft laws in 2007-2009, working with State Legislators and scrap industry leaders, to come up with laws that were enforceable by Law Enforcement, and the scrap industry could comply with, (SB691).
In 2010, Roger received the Meritorious Service Award from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, for going above and beyond his normal work and being one of the only Law Enforcement officers to work with the State Legislators to write the Business and Professions Code for Metal Theft.
As the Director of Loss Prevention, Roger continues to teach Law Enforcement Metal Theft laws and compliance, and is recognized as an Expert in enforcement and compliance, state wide.
