Ron Chittim is a Manager in API’s Downstream-Refining Group and has been with the American Petroleum Institute for 28 years. Ron has held numerous positions with API with most of that time spent in the “Downstream” space with a focus on industry “Refining” activities. Ron currently has the lead responsibility in managing API‘s refining advocacy, policy and technical activities related to: Refining Advocacy, Policy & Communications (Legislative & Regulatory), Process & Personnel Safety/Risk Management, Operating Practices, Standards/Best Engineering Practices, Security. Ron works directly with API member company VPs and directors on advocacy/policy, process safety, standards and operational issues as well as numerous issue-specific efforts. In addition, Ron is the primary API liaison between API and government agencies such as OSHA, EPA and the U.S. Chemical Safety Board. Ron also functions as one of API’s spokespersons on issues related to refinery safety, technical and operational issues as well as other refining-related matters. Ron graduated from the University of Wyoming with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering and he and his wife live in Annapolis, MD.
